Humboldt County Office of Education Equity Series Presentation
November 19, 2020: Interrupting Digital Inequity
This presentation is the second part of the series offered by the Humboldt County Office of Education. We must continue to disrupt digital inequities now than we ever have before and we must center student voices. To view the first Equity Kick-off of the season with the BIPOC student panel that I co-facilitated, and retrieve presentation slides and handouts visit: https://hcoe.org/equity-series/

“To celebrate the past, former members of Eureka’s NAACP were honored with a plaque. Tina Okoye and Dionna Fletcher spoke about the present and the formation of Black Humboldt, a community organization that aims to enlighten, empower and entertain Humboldt’s black community. Fletcher, who came from New York to attend Blue Lake’s Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, said noticed that she was always asked if she was a student at HSU and came to the conclusion that most people locally associate black people with one institution — HSU. Fletcher also mentioned the need to support black-owned businesses locally.”
